The Catsights display doesn't have physical buttons — which is a good thing, because the whole panel is the control surface. Anything you'd normally poke at with a little button lives in the on-screen menu, and it's fully touch-operated. Here's how to use it.
How to open the menu
The menu is summoned with a gesture: place two fingers on the lower third of the screen, within about 1.5 cm of the bottom edge, and swipe up. That's the whole trick. The display picks it up and the menu slides in — no hardware button to go hunting for in the dark.
A tip: get your fingers close to the bottom edge. That 1.5 cm matters — if you start the swipe higher up, the display treats it as a normal swipe on your content instead.
Brightness
Once the menu is open, the brightness slider is right there. Drag it to wherever feels comfortable for the room you're in. This is the setting you'll come back to most, and it's worth knowing the slider lives in the OSD rather than in your OS.
Standby clock (and how to get a dark screen)
With no signal coming in, the display shows a digital clock by default — a nice standby screen. But maybe you'd rather have a dark panel, especially at night. The same menu has a toggle for that: turn the standby clock off and the screen goes dark when there's no signal. Two options, one setting.
Touch mode for iPhone and iPad
Casting from an iPhone or iPad? When you mirror to the display, the OSD shows Portrait and Landscape touch-mode buttons. Tap the one that matches how your device is oriented, and touch stays aligned with the screen. If taps seem to land where you didn't point, this is usually the culprit — switch the mode to match your device.
Everything is touch
There are no physical buttons on the display, and you won't miss them. Open the menu, drag sliders, tap options — all of it is touch. It works the same on Windows and macOS, since the OSD lives on the display itself, not in any driver.
Tips
- Start the swipe within 1.5 cm of the bottom edge, with two fingers.
- Use the OSD for brightness and the standby clock; leave resolution to your operating system.
- The menu works identically whether you're on Windows or macOS.
Once you've swiped the menu open a couple of times, it becomes second nature. Two fingers, a quick swipe, and everything you need is right there.
