Here's a nice thing about the Catsights: there's no power brick to juggle and no dock to set up. It all comes down to one USB-C cable. Here's how that works, and what to do when it doesn't.
How it works
That single cable handles three things at once. It carries the video signal to the display, powers the display, and sends touch data back to your computer. The trick is USB-C's DisplayPort Alt Mode, which lets one USB-C port do all three at the same time — no extra cables needed.
Which laptops support it
Almost all recent laptops do. All M-series MacBooks, ThinkPads, Dell XPS, Surface devices, and most Chromebooks support DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C. If your laptop has a USB-C port, there's a good chance it'll work — the main thing is using a full-featured port (one that supports video), not just a charging port.
If the display doesn't turn on
- Try a different USB-C port — some ports on a laptop are data-only.
- Try a different cable — not every USB-C cable carries video. The one included with your Catsights is verified for it.
- Check that the hub is seated — the cable plugs into the hub, so make sure the hub is snapped firmly onto the display.
